Stantec investigated pipe failure modes for all large water mains managed by the Taiwan Water Corporation
Taiwan Water Corporation manages over 2,200 kilometers of raw and treated water mains with diameters greater than 800 mm. Stantec investigated these water mains to facilitate better predictive and preventive maintenance.
Stantec’s Taiwan and United Kingdom teams developed an easy-to-use tool, multi-criteria analysis, to determine the factors that most influenced the probability and consequences of pipe failures.
A pilot project for the implementation of condition assessment is planned for 2017, and the outcomes will be used to verify and improve the tool.
