Dr. Shawntine Lai received her doctorate in environmental engineering at University of Southern California (California, USA) in 2005. Now out of Taipei, Taiwan, she is a certified and licensed professional engineer and project management professional (PMP).
With over 12 years of experience, Shawntine’s expertise includes soil and groundwater remediation technologies. She focuses on design and implementation of remedial technologies, such as in-situ bioremediation, in-situ chemical reduction, in-situ chemical oxidation, soil vapor extraction, and more.
Shawntine also supported the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency in its development of an environmental liability insurance plan for gas stations, which incorporates considerations for site history, remediation costs, and the level of risks. She believes that environmental insurance helps to cover unexpected costs and liability for unknown and newly-discovered contamination at a site.
