Decreasing Hawaii's carbon footprint with a new rail transit system
When you think of the Island of Oahu, you think of sun, sand, and beautiful ocean waters. But not all is sunshine and rainbows when travelling through Honolulu County. Traffic congestion is quite common.
The Honolulu Rail Transit Project aims to address this problem by providing a 20-mile, 21-station elevated transit system connecting West Oahu with Honolulu International Airport, downtown Honolulu, and Ala Moana Center. The system will use driverless cars—the first driverless system in the United States.
We’re providing pre-construction support, resident engineering, office engineering, change management, project controls, inspection, and project administration for the project’s east section. This 10-mile section begins just past the Aloha Stadium Station and extends to the terminus station at Ala Moana Center.
This project's benefits are far reaching and long lasting, helping decrease Hawaii's carbon footprint and dependence on imported oil, minimizing road congestion, stimulating the economy by creating jobs, and providing another safe mode of transportation.
